Story behind the coin:
Jonathan and David, each in military attire and with a shield bearing an inscription on their backs, standing opposite each other, their hands clasped together; "GULHARTIGE/VRIENDSC" (Generous/Friends): in two lines in exergue / Friendship/the true salt/of human life/Would I give up all the gold/For peace and quiet (Friendship – the true salt of human life, I would prefer it to all the gold in the world over strife and unrest) and dated in seven lines; rosette above; crossed palm leaves below.
