Dutch Regalia

Dutch regalia are the collection of ritual garments and decorations that indicate a member's membership of a Masonic lodge, their position within the lodge, and their degree of initiation in the Netherlands. For a lodge officer, this also includes the attributes worn on the body that are associated with his position. Dutch regalia are also the outward signs of the Dutchsovereignpower of the monarch,the king. Not to be confused with the royal or princely (privileges), the regalia, which are also calledregaliain Latin.
Dutch regalia also refers to the symbols that represent royal power and are often presented at coronations. The terms regalia andcrown jewelsare often used interchangeably. Common regalia include:
– Royal crown
– Imperial orb
– Imperial sword
– Scepter
Other examples include the German imperial orb and theJapaneseimperial sword.
The term is also often used for the insignia used during ritual sessions inFreemasonryand para-masonry.
